October 20, 2008 was the first term
karaoke competition held in Hsin-Chu O-Mei. The
performers whose age ranged from eight to sixty really
reflected how well loved the nature loving songs are.
But besides the contestants, many grandmasters, masters,
Tao members, and the Buddha disciple of the 20th term
came for the grand event.
This competition had three unique differences from the
solo singing competition. There were duet, trio, and
family team karaoke. There was no musical instrument to
accompany, only DJ, but a change in the key is allowed.
And finally, there was no evaluator. Everyone was
rewarded.
At the beginning of the event, Grandmaster Wang
delivered to audience, ˇ§we hope that through this
activity, the nature loving songs will be promoted in
schools and in our communities.ˇ¨ There is a clear
difference between the nature loving songs and popular
songs. The lyrics of the nature loving songs are filled
with the energy of righteousness, kindness, and love,
which can cleanse our heart and mind. When we connect
with these songs, when we sing these songs, this will
bring up our harmonious energies. This is what we need
most at this time. We need to create more peaceful
energies to make the world a better place for all. A
culture of love and harmony can happen when we work
together to prosper a universal love for nature.
The training Buddha disciples acted as the cheer
leaders. Their presence did not only ease the
performers, they brought up a vibrant atmosphere. Their
energy was joyful and jolly. It was like a family
singing reunion. This jolly atmosphere was perhaps a
glimpse of what the Pureland is.
